Three-fund portfolio

VTI 50% · VXUS 30% · BND 20%

The three-fund portfolio, popular in the Bogleheads community, owns almost every listed company and a broad bond market with just three low-cost index funds: US stocks, international stocks and US bonds.

60/40 portfolio

VTI 60% · BND 40%

The 60/40 portfolio is the classic balanced mix: 60% stocks for growth and 40% bonds for stability. It needs only two funds, which makes rebalancing with new money especially simple.

All-Weather portfolio

VTI 30% · TLT 40% · IEF 15% · GLD 7.5% · DBC 7.5%

The All-Weather portfolio, popularised by Ray Dalio, aims to hold up in growth, recession, inflation and deflation by spreading money across assets that react differently. This is a commonly used simplified ETF version.

European two-fund portfolio

VWCE.DE 80% · AGGH.AS 20%

Many European investors can't buy US-listed ETFs, so they use UCITS ETFs listed in Europe instead. One global stock fund and one euro-hedged global bond fund give a simple, widely diversified two-fund portfolio in euros.
